Pen BBS 308

I am skeptical of Chinese made pens. Not for any other reason than my lifetime of experiences where I’ve learned that you get what you pay for. Of course, that is a generality, but it has held true with the few Chinese pens I’ve bought to-date. So, I’ve heard a lot of good things about Pen BBS and so I gave it a shot.

Pen BBS pens are designed online by a community of fountain pen enthusiasts. They began by creating their own inks and somewhere along the way began creating pens as well. The concept of fountain pens created by fountain pen lovers for fountain pen lovers is intriguing.

When I received this pen, I fell in love immediately. I apologize that my photos do not do this pen justice. The blue marbled resin is almost 3 dimensional, it seems to move as you rotate the pen. There is a depth to the color and this is the most beautiful pen that I have owned. Then, when I opened the pen and started writing with it, I was even more in love. Such a smooth nib and an amazing writing exper… oh, what’s that… ugh! I thought that I had found a perfect pen for $35, but the more I use the pen, the more is skips and false starts – I have cleaned it multiple times. I am a Newbie so I do not know how to work on the nib or put a new nib on the pen, but I am not happy with the way the pen pauses when I write fast.

I am pretty sure that I will buy more of this pen and, if I can figure out how to make the nibs write better, I will probably make this pen my every day pen. I highly recommend this pen. Buy Here

  1. As an owner of 100s of Chinese pens purchased over the last 10 years, I find most to be good writers & great values. You can see me writing with them on my YouTube channel – chrisrap52. BTW I have over 150 PenBBS pens, all great.

    • You have 150 PenBBS pens?? I have no words. Have you sought counseling for this addiction? lol – I will definitely defer to your expertise on the subject of PenBBS pens!

  2. When I started collecting modern pens, I didn’t realize they needed to be flushed with water that contains a drop or two of dish soap. During manufacture the molds are coated with a releasing agent so the plastic will separate easily. The agent is usually oil based and does not always get removed before shipping. It will interfere with ink flow and cause writing problems. I’m always eager to immediately ink a new pen but giving it a thorough flushing can increase the pleasure of using a new pen. Hope you get this one writing well.
